Astrophytum asterias var. nudum – Species Overview

Appearance & Characteristics
- Body: Flattened, disc-shaped cactus, usually 2–7 cm tall and up to 15 cm wide
- Color: Smooth, bright green to blue-green — lacks the typical white trichomes (fuzz) found on regular A. asterias, giving it a “naked” appearance
- Ribs: 8 distinct ribs with minimal or no tubercles
- Areoles: Small, spaced evenly along the ribs; may have short, woolly hairs
- Spines: None (spineless cactus)
- Flowers: Bright yellow with orange/red centers, around 5–7 cm wide, appearing at the crown in summer
- Fruits: Small, woolly, pinkish-red with black seeds
